- learned how to clean and maintain our instrument!
- Flutes, use the cloth around your cleaning rod to clean each piece,
- trombones give your instrument a soap bath when needed (don’t forget to rinse without soap after!)
- trumpets use valve oil and slide grease as needed!

- practiced holding our violin in play position,
- practiced putting our first finger down on the D string to play a new note (low E).

- we practiced keeping tight corners in our mouth and taking a deep breath to get good sound.

- reviewed curved piano hands and found C.
- worked on songs 3-4 (pg. 4)
- started song 8 (pg. 6).
- Please work on songs 8-11 this week!
Beginning Violin 2:15
- practiced a good play position,
- practiced songs 13-15 (pg. 5).
- then went on to song 16.
- Practice songs 16-19 (pg. 6) this week, and focus on good rhythm!
- Also practice finding a good loose bow hold,
- and practice the Mississippi hot dog rhythm on every string!
Beginning Winds 2:45
- talked about embouchure,
- Brass-how to keep tight corners for a good focused sound.
- flutes/clarinet- control the air flow not to blow too hard!
- We want to warm up with mouthpieces or headjoints only, and make sure our air is coming from our lungs, and not being forced!
- Practice getting a long even tone by practicing sings 1-4 on page 1.
- Take a look at pages 1-3 and play all of the songs using your notes!

- practiced how to use nice curved piano hands.

Beginning Violin 2:15
- reviewed good loose bow holds (no banana thumbs)
- how to draw a good sound with the bow (good plus signs, middle of the bow).
- also worked on page 6 songs 16-17 in the brown book
Beginning Winds 2:45
- practiced getting a good even tone, and talked about concert pitch.
- all sustained a concert D in unison and practiced using our breath for better sound.
Piano/Keyboard 3:15
- reviewed the notes C through G
- practiced how to use nice curved piano hands.
- worked on page 9 songs 14-15 and practiced even rhythm.
- also talked about 3/4 vs 4/4 time.
Ukulele 3:45
- reviewed the C and F chords, and learned C 7.
- practiced switching between the chords and learned the songs yellow submarine and hokey pokey (pgs. 8-9).

- reviewed left and right hands, finger numbers, and mountains and hills.
- reviewed how to use our curvy piano hands, and put our right thumb on C.
- learned C-D-E-F-G (1-2-3-4-5)
- tried to play together as an orchestra
- remember, we all have to sound like one piano
- play the correct note and at the same time
Beginning Violin 2:15
Today we:
- reviewed violin hand and bow hand, rest ready and play position
- talked about our bow wrist, and tried some bow elevators (up and down in front of your face)
- the elbow doesn’t move, but the wrist should bend!
- Everyone had a great bow wrist after the exercise!
- also read songs in the brown violin book on pages 2-4.
Beginning Winds 2:45
- warmed up with a good sound all around
- We reviewed the first two notes in our books and played through the songs on page 1.
- Making a good sound on our instruments is the hardest part! Make sure to play at least every other day at home!
- try to play the rhythm of one of your favorite songs on just the mouthpiece or headjoint
- play long tones (hold a note as long as you can)
- Once you can play the first two notes, see if you can learn the 3rd note in our books

- Whole Notes- 4 beats of sound
