What we practiced this week- November 28th

Mr. Jamie’s Classes

Piano 2:10

  • We started with Let’s Play Catch and then quickly launched into RH Notes C D E F G
  • We did Hot Cross Buns on the White Keys with fingers 3,2,1,on EDC (as opposed to how we originally learned it)
  • We fast forwarded to pg. 21 #33 and went over LH 1 on G as a class
  • HW is to review CDEFG, #14 French Fries, and #33 Knock, Knock
  •

Winds 2:45

  • Oliver and Brady were absent
  • Carter and I went over how to apply valve oil and in doing so, how to make sure the valves are lined up correctly, then we went over C and pitch matched to a video
  • HW for Carter is Bumper Cars
  • Hugo primarily used Dreidel Dreidel as a vehicle to work on his embouchure and tonguing
  • We also discovered that if Hugo’s ligature is out of alignment even a little it really messes everything up. So he should be mindful
  • HW for Hugo is to polish and finish Dreidel with proper technique

What we practiced this week- November 14th

Mr. Jamie’s Classes

Piano 2:10

  • We started by reviewing the notes we’ve learned and glossing over E and F a bit as well. Then we played G Wiz and worked our way through the book from there.
  • Towards the end of class we learned about the dotted half note.
  • HW is to be able to play Let’s Play Catch without help from Jamie, and to start learning about E on page 8. Bonus is Hot Cross Buns on the white keys.

Winds 2:45

  • Brady remembers how to assemble and hold the clarinet, and is going to review as many notes as he can for next week.
  • Carter is solidly on Apple for Teacher, he can go a little further but before we start progressing too far with him I want more clarity in his notes and accuracy in his embouchure.
  • Oliver has gone pretty far in the book, but I encouraged him to double back a bit so he can be sure to learn everything correctly.
  • It was great to see Hugo really take everything we worked on last week into the class this week. HW for him is Mary Had A Little Lamb
